Michelle and Adam’s Wedding

In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours.

In all the world, there is no love for you like mine.”

-Maya Angelou

Michelle and Adam are one of the most unique, genuine, and compassionate couples we have had the honor of working with. There are so many things about them that make them special, but to write it all the pages would go on and on. I do however, want to share our experience with them with you.

Our very first email we received from Michelle caught us off guard, most of our inquiries are just one to two sentences asking of our availability, but this one was different. Michelle had sent us a paragraph! She told us all about herself and fiance Adam, they are both veterinarians, and their “biggest thing in common is our goofiness and mushy-heartedness for people and other animals.” She also told us their classmates in vet school made a new category in their superlatives so they could win “most unlikely couple” since she was a “vegan animal activist coming from NYC and he was a dairy guy who didn’t leave the frat house.” It was so fun for us to learn about them so quickly, and it was so sweet that they had opened right up to us before even knowing us, so of course we were instantly excited to meet with them. We loved that they shared the same line of work, had the same values, and we were curious to see how unlikely of a couple they were! We first met at Coleman’s in Syracuse, we told the hostess we were meeting up with two more people, but we were early. She sat us at a table near another couple who was enjoying their dinner. Time passed as Tom and I sat there waiting, we started joking to ourselves how funny it would be if that was them, well wouldn’t you know they must have been thinking the same thing because Michelle leaned over and asked “Are you Tom and Lexi?” We cracked up! The entire rest of the meeting they told us more about themselves, their work and their wedding (and bought us the best shepherd’s pie we’ve ever had!) It was easy to see that although “unlikely” they complemented each other perfectly! Their engagement session was just as fun as our first meeting! We met them at their apartment and had the honor of meeting their two sweet cats Sophie and Squirrel. The rest of the afternoon was spent driving around Tipp Hill and shooting. They went along with all the crazy poses we had them do and never turned down any idea. After Tom and I got in the car we looked at each other and said the same thing – “I LOVE them!” Michelle and Adam have this amazing way of making you feel like instant friends.

All of a sudden it was June 11th, their wedding day was here! We woke up to a torrential downpour of rain, our minds raced with ideas for indoor photo spots and our hearts were sad for them, knowing they would have wanted better weather. The bridal party gathered in the house at MKJ Farms, and even though the forecast had predicted rain all day, it began slowing up and the sun was starting to make its way out. The day had yet again thrown another curveball at Michelle and Adam, – the wedding party from the night before had taken Adam’s tux with them by mistake, Michelle laughed that he would have to borrow someone else’s clothes. Jack from MKJ went to the rescue and when he returned with Adam’s suit in hand the whole house erupted in cheers! It seemed like with all of the “curveballs” of the day, all of them were made right.

Another thing I wanted to note was the extreme compassion to others I witnessed all day – At one point in the morning the phone rang and Michelle answered, it was someone looking to find out more about booking the farm, and although she couldn’t help much she sold the venue like it was her job! She told them that she could take a message and how awesome it was there! ( I mean, come on, how sweet was that?!) Another thing was how absolutely sweet and open minded they both were with the flower girls. When one asked what way to throw the petals and if they could wear their necklaces around their waist, they replied, “that is what is special about being a flower girl, you can make all the decisions, and you can wear the necklace however it makes you happy.”

After gifts were exchanged, both necklaces, (Adam’s is for his rings so they “don’t get lost up a cow’s butt”) They got into their suits and gown. There was a mix of grey suits, white button down shirts with (the coolest) leather belt suspenders, and a variety of different style purple gowns. Michelle wore the most unique gown I have ever seen, it was flowing chiffon, strapless, and was beautiful on its own, but also had a lace overlay and a beaded belt that completed the look! The bouquets were STUNNING, with peonies, and succulents, the boutonnieres were the most perfect purple daisy’s. The ceremony was held outside at the pond on the dock in front of a beautiful wooden arch. Michelle and Adam had written their own vows (and Michelle held it together really well, even though she told me she was nervous about that! ) The reception was just down the hill, where the guests had a huge table of snacks and a brick oven pizza truck waiting for them! We loved all of the fun details all over the barn,  a huge hand drawn photo of their family tree was among our favorites. Music from S-Dot got people dancing so hard they even fell down! The sparkler exit of the night topped everything off, in fact it was so fun they ran through a second time for fun!

-Michelle and Adam- Thank you both SO much for inviting us to be not only be a part of your wedding day but also for your friendship! We loved being able to spend time with you during this important part of your new life together! Congratulations, we wish you the happiest and best!
