“Home is wherever I’m with you”, these lyrics from the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s song perfectly describe Katie and Ricky. When we asked them how they knew that the other one was “the one” the answer that they gave us was exactly that line. Being together makes them feel “at home”. Katie and Ricky are a match made in heaven. An actual match, that is, because they found each other on Tinder! When they matched they started talking right away. They met at The Paddock, a bar in Watertown for their first date. They both agreed that the date went great, and was memorable, especially when Ricky couldn’t hold back the thought of how beautiful Katie was and just had to tell her. When he invited her to go back to one of his friend’s birthday parties that night, Katie saw Ricky dance for the first time and that sealed the deal for her, he was the one!
Those sweet dance moves? We got to witness them at the wedding! Before we get into the reception, let me rewind a little bit! Tom and I spent our mornings separately with Katie and Ricky. As Katie was finishing up her makeup and hair, Ricky was setting up the arbor with flowers and drapery. We loved that they had a hand in every part of their wedding. When Katie and I pulled into The Hayloft at Moonshine Farms driveway, the anticipation was at an all-time high for the first look! It was a sweet moment and tears were shed, or as Ricky liked to say “he had something in his eyes.” During their portrait session, it was a wave of calmness before the ceremony with just the two of them. As butterflies danced around us during photos and the leaves on the trees were already changing colors, it just felt surreal and magical. As guests started to arrive, we snuck back into the barn and waited for the next adventure of the day. The ceremony was filled with more tears as Katie made her way down the aisle. The readings and vows were heartfelt, and with a kiss, they headed back down the aisle where family greeted them with big hugs – always one of my favorite parts! Their reception was personalized to them, right down to dinner…or should I say, breakfast. That’s right, Katie and Ricky had eggs, pancakes, bagels, and all the fixings! It reminded us of their engagement session where they fixed up breakfast together, and fellow breakfast lovers ourselves, Tom and I, LOVED it! A surprise slideshow that Katie put together of Ricky’s best dance moves kicked off the dancing for the rest of the night! Family filled the dance floor and when we saw Ricky’s mom dance, it was clear to see where he got those moves from! We loved sharing those fun moments and capturing the memories for them! Congratulations Katie and Ricky!
