July 6th, 2019 was a long time in the making. Kelsey and Matt met back in high school where they made and shared memories while in the high school band and cross-country together. It all started when they went to go see The Grudge 2 and even though they both hated scary movies they tried their hardest to act tough even if they were terrified. Well, it’s a good thing they roughed it out because it only led to this lifelong journey they decided to share together. It’s a truly incredible thing to find that one person who you decide to share everything with, the good moments, the hard moments, the sad and sweet moments. It will always be that one partner that will be there, and what a truly incredible thing that is. How do you know though? Is there a one moment that clicks all the gears into place, or is it all of those little in-between moments that made it all make sense? For Kelsey and Matt, it was both.
Kelsey knew that Matt was the one on the day of her college graduation. She woke up that morning and her apartment was out of hot water, they had no food or breakfast and all three of her roommates were hungover and panicking. Matt stayed on the phone with a maintenance guy for an hour, made them a delicious breakfast from random food scraps, kept everyone calm and got them all out of the door and to the ceremony on time. Kelsey told us that she remembers looking at him and thinking how amazing he was and how she didn’t want him anywhere else but by her side forever. She told us that life has thrown them little and big curve balls but she could not imagine riding the roller coaster with anyone else.
Matt shared with us that he knew Kelsey was the one because she always can make him laugh, she pushes him to do things he wouldn’t do himself and throughout the different stages of life, he feels that they can continue to grow closer even when times are difficult. She is a supporter of him through some of the hardest times and he’s excited to celebrate all of the good times to come with her. When you know, you know.
The only thing left to do was propose. So on their 11th anniversary, they took a weekend trip to Belhurst Castle, where a cold fall morning couldn’t compete with the warmth from their hearts as Matt got down on one knee to ask for Kelsey’s hand in marriage.
Their wedding day we joined them in celebration at Rocking Horse Farm where thunderstorms couldn’t keep the joy away! Even with the roaring thunder and buckets of rain, the two took it in stride and did not let it ruin their celebration! Behold, the storm even halted with enough time for their portrait session photos AND the ceremony! The timing was perfect, they had an angel looking out for them that day! The rest of the night we enjoyed the company of guests as they played cornhole, danced the night away, and sat by the massive bonfire. Oh, did I mention there was a special guest, a mini donkey AND a surprise nighttime snack of Mac and cheese!!! It was an unforgettable night! Congratulations Kelsey and Matt, we love you guys and wish you nothing but the best!
