Laura and Lis’s wedding was a longtime anticipated one for Tom and I. Ever since spending the day with them chasing waterfalls, and hearing all about their vision for their wedding day during their engagement session we knew it was one that was going to be emotion-filled and heartwarming!
Laura and Lis met while on a European master’s program. Coming from 2 different parts of the world, Laura from New York and Lis from Venezuela, they bonded over sharing new experiences together and fell in love.
Their beautiful spring wedding was held at the new Downtown Delta Hotel and they had guests from all over the globe in attendance. The ceremony was so intimate and as Lis and Laura made their way down the aisle, the tears couldn’t be held back. They opened their ceremony with a reading of the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriages. It was a powerful message to hear as Laura and Lis stood hand in hand.
“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were…They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”
Their reception was a beautiful celebration of their love. The toasts we heard from their family and friends reflected just how special their love is, and what it means to everyone in their lives. Lis’s brothers toast brought me to tears, it was full of sincerity and pride in his sister. After a delicious dinner everyone tore it up on the dancefloor to an amazing mix of music from all different cultures and the energy was electric, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting my groove on the dancefloor as well!
