One of the most exciting things that can happen to us as a wedding photographer is to be invited back into a family that we had the honor of capturing before! Luckily for us, we got that amazing opportunity when Kristin contacted us just weeks after she and Matt had gotten engaged before the date was even set! Last summer Tom and I photographed Kristin’s sister’s Cynthia’s (and now brother in law Patrick’s) wedding and I remember how sweet and helpful Kristin was during the day and I also recall hearing family say to us “They’re next!” as they pointed to Matt and Kristin! Of course, the family called it, and that following year (after they had finished schooling) they made it official! Just thinking of all the years they’ve spent together and grown as a couple, making it through middle school, high school, and college, they’ve clearly got the love to make it all the way. After all these two have been dating since sixth grade… yes you read that right, sixth grade! When we got to spend the day with them during the engagement session we got to see some of that sweet grade school love first hand, and some of our favorite moments were when we got to the root of their relationship and learned when it all started at a middle school dance. They shared their first kiss while the song “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz played in the background, and as they swayed arm distance apart, I’m fairly certain their middle school hearts never would have expected that moment would lead to a lifetime, but we’re so happy it did because love like theirs makes life sweeter!
