Jessica and Chris’s wedding was HIGHLY anticipated, the energy and enthusiasm they brought to our meetings, engagement session and email only got us more excited for the main event- their wedding day! Most likely if you are reading this blog, you know these two lovebirds (lucky you!) However if you don’t, then you are also in luck, because I’m going to start their story when they first met!
It’s crazy to think how just one moment can change your life, but that’s what happened the night that Chris and his band decided to play at Funk N’ Waffles. They first locked eyes during the set when Chris was up on stage, and when he saw Jess he knew he needed to talk to her, so after the show, he set out to find the girl with the beautiful blue eyes. Little did he know that he would be meeting his wife! Move aside hallmark movies, this love story takes the cake in our opinion!
Our favorite thing about capturing weddings are the moments, and Chris and Jessica’s wedding was definitely not short on them! Tom and I spend our mornings with Chris and Jessica and their wedding party separately as they prepared for the day. Each nervous as well as excited. They exchanged gifts that were personal and sweet. Jess gifted Chris a guitar pick inscribed with the saying “you’re always my pick” and Jessica received a photo book of their journeys together and the reasons why and how Chris knew Jessica was the one! (I even noticed that Jessica had an Office-themed birthday party like I did!) Chris also put together multiple printed screenshots of text messages they sent to each other back when they first met for her to open every half hour for the entire morning leading up to when they would be officially husband and wife! All the while they were putting the final touches on their suits and dresses, Chris even taking extra time to help his adorable nephews into their formalwear!
It was an emotional morning, like when Chris helped his father with his tie and they both broke down, between tears Chris exclaimed that he gets his emotions from his dad- aww! Then when just moments before Jessica walked down the aisle, the waterworks happened again when they cued up the music. After the two vowed their lives together and it became official, there was no other better way to celebrate than with heading to taco bell!
Sky Armory hosted the reception and it was amazing to see how present everyone was during the night. It’s so easy to be swept up and let the day breeze by but with every speech you could feel the love radiate from the family and friends who love Jess and Chris and you could tell that everyone couldn’t be happier that they found each other – It was a celebration of their love! The bridesmaids and groomsmen speeches made us laugh so hard we cried and Jess’s father’s toast made us flat out cry, especially when he said the first time he met Chris he thought “this is probably the nicest guy I’ve ever met” and the tears in Chris’s eyes topped it! A few minutes after all the speeches were done, Chris and Jessica took a moment together at their table and looked out among the crowd and just embraced each other. Unposed, and unknown to them that Tom was sneaking a shot, but one of my favorite photos from the whole day.
They turned the party out after dinner when Prime Time Horns hit the stage and got everyone on their feet, “lightsabers” and all! Then the sweetest surprised was when Chris and his band, as well as his brother and some other friends, played a handful of songs dedicated to Jessica. One of their favorites, that she knew he would play, then two others, a song he wrote for her about her eyes….every girl’s dream, and another, “Jessica” from the Allman Brothers, which if you are familiar is an insanely hard song to nail, and boy did they nail it! If you were wondering if, yup, I cried again.
Congratulations Jessica and Chris, thank you for letting us tag along with you on your incredible wedding day, we could not be happier you found the Pam to your Jim!
