Not too long ago we shared Ahnna and Zach’s engagement shoot on our blog, now we are excited to be sharing their wedding day! Besides the sweet moments we photographed at their families camp during that shoot, we also wrote the story of how they first met, and how much we enjoyed spending time getting to know them. So go check that out if you haven’t yet, it was one of our all-time favorites!
It’s a special thing being able to capture the chemistry between two people in love on their wedding day and even more special when the connections reach beyond the couple themselves to their families and guests. Ahnna and Zach’s wedding day was one where I had to make sure I had the tissues on hand at all time! The intimate moment between mother and daughter as Ahnna was zipped into her wedding gown was wholeheartedly a moment I will never forget as a photographer. They exchanged a hug, kiss and Ahnna asked: “are you proud of me mom?” And her mom answered, “I am so proud of you.” My heart was so full and continued to fill as I met with Ahnna’s father outside for the first look with his daughter. I told him to stand to face towards the woods and Ahnna would come up and tap him on the shoulder and then he could turn around and his response was a simple “okay” delivered with a crack in his voice that left me wiping a tear away as I walked off to grab Ahnna. When she greeted her father as a bride, his feelings overwhelmed him and Ahnna topped off the already sentimental moment with a (much needed) hankie that read “dad, you will always be my hero” *cue more tears*.
The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s in Clinton and the words that were spoken by Reverend Croghan between vows and hymns were wise and true, and Tom and I were nodding the entire time. A short summary is that a wedding is about the love behind it, the couple and remembering why they took this next step in their lives together. To take the time in the busy (potentially) stressed filled day to hold each other close, breath in the moment and be present.
The reception was held at the Cannery in Vernon, it was our first time there so we were really excited to check it out. It has a super neat feel to it, rustic yet modern and we loved all the personal touches scattered about the venue. Even though the engagement session was 15 days prior to the wedding, there were still photos up from that day and we were so happy to see them framed beside photos from their parents and grandparents wedding. After introductions, an upbeat first dance, some seriously sweet parent dances and side-splitting toasts, an absolute feast of a buffet was served and then- party time! If you did happen to read the engagement blog and were wondering, yes, Ahnna’s grandpa did get to do the chicken dance!
Ahnna and Zach, we had so much fun with you both! Thank you for letting us be a part of your day!
