If you’re a follower from Instagram, you’ve seen some of the sneak peaks and behind the scenes photos from Jen and Monica’s proposal, but because I’m seriously in love with this shoot, I’m going to give you guys the whole darn story. So tune in, buckle up, grab some popcorn, (just kidding it probably won’t be “too long”) but it’s a good one! So it started back when Jen contacted us September of last year! Now she already had the grand plan in her head to make her proposal to Monica perfect! Monica had always dreamed of having her wedding by a waterfall, and as you might know, that is a pretty tricky thing to do, so Jen wanting to make part of that dream come true decided that if she couldn’t give her a wedding by the falls then she would give her a proposal by the falls. *Cue the “awwws” on top of that as if it wasn’t already special enough Jen proposed to Monica on her birthday, and had all of her friends and family waiting for her at Swifty’s when they got back!
So as you can already tell Jen really had this whole plan figured out! Then when the time came to meet Jen and iron out all the plans, it was definitely really clear to see that she was just so excited, nervous, but excited, to start this next chapter!
So it’s the day of the shoot, Tom and I woke up pretty early to head to Chittenango Falls to “find a good seat” haha! Jen had told us what she was planning on wearing so as we stood at the base of the falls we are on the constant lookout for orange glasses and a camo jacket! By this point like 5 or 6 couples had passed us and we are getting really antsy and excited. Every single person that made their way down the trail we were like “is that them, what about them?” – we just couldn’t wait. When we finally could tell “yeah that’s definitely them” we got into place and started pretending that we are taking photos of each other. Now I’m a total goofball so I was doing like a 90s R&B/hip-hop album cover, half squatting type of pose (please don’t try to imagine, I’m already embarrassed just admitting it) so Jen and Monica were thinking – what are those two dorks doing, – and then proceeded to recreate our photo shoot. Tom and I honestly thought Jen was squatting to propose right then and started snapping photos luckily neither of them noticed so when they crossed the bridge to actually make the “magic moment” happen we were both like “oh, okay there it is!” And man it was SO sweet to watch!!! Now, Tom and I probably talk about how much we love our jobs maybe a little too much, but we genuinely could not have been happier at that moment, knowing that what we were capturing was a moment so special to Jen and Monica just filled our hearts with complete and utter joy. Even though the Falls were tremendously loud and we couldn’t hear anything that was said we could read the happiness on their faces! It was a dream come true!
Congratulations Monica and Jen!
Such a sweet blog post! Would love to see the pictures you took thinking it was the proposal but was us just goofing on you haha
