It was evident right away that Amy and Kevin were going to rock our wedding season! Our first meeting lasted longer than any other because we couldn’t stop talking about practically everything. From Volkswagen’s to rock climbing and all things in between, Kevin and Tom were talking about their shared interests and hobbies, as Amy and I were talking about our adventurous boys! We were so happy to get to know them and even more excited when we were asked to be their photographers!
Their wedding took place in Little Falls, the same beautiful industrial city where we met them for their engagement session. Except this time, instead of wandering about the canal and Moss Island, we were at a castle tucked away in the valley. Beardslee Castle is filled with history and beauty, but the part we love most about it is Amy’s personal connection to it. Growing up she would visit the castle and stared in awe at the photos on the walls with brides and grooms, knowing even before Kevin came around, that Beardslee would be where she would say “I do”.
The castle is a seriously stunning place, if you’ve never gone, you’re missing out! Every room, nook and cranny is unique and interesting. The dungeon, where Kevin and his groomsmen were shooting pool, and the bridal suite with the most gorgeous window viewing the garden where Amy and the bridesmaids prepared, were the two rooms Tom and I found ourselves bouncing between. Having everything right at the castle made it so fun and relaxing for everyone, plus a bonus for us because where as we are typically separated from the bridal parties all morning, we got the opportunity to spend a little time with everyone!
Let me tell you about my personal favorite part of the day, the ceremony! As all the guests waited in the garden, surrounded by towering hedges, Amy had to sneak out the front door and around the back to line up with the wedding party. Everyone was so excited, and radiating joy, I couldn’t help but smile as all their friends cheered Amy on! Once everyone passed through the wall of leaves, Amy’s dad took her hand and led her into the small opening and they emerged into the garden, greeted by all their family and friends (though it was clear to see that Amy and Kevin were only focused on each other.)
Being a part of Amy and Kevin’s day was a complete joy for us. From the ceremony filled with happy tears and laughter, to the reception with amazing company and yummy food ( like those chocolate covered strawberries), it was a day we went home with cheeks sore from smiles!
Congratulations Amy and Kevin! We wish you both nothing but all the love and happiness! Maybe the next time we’re all in Little Falls we’ll be rock climbing!
