The way Melissa and Jason smiled at each other was enough to make everyone blush. Their day was a perfect mixture of romance, elegance, and country chic. Held at the stunning Wolf Oak Acres in Oneida, it was a new venue for us to shoot and a beautiful backdrop for this beautiful couple.
Arriving early, we were swept up in the bustle of the day, with everyone working hard to set up. As decorators from A Mad Affair Events were unloading their cars, and planners from R.E Wedding Planning were arranging the layout of the reception hall, in drives Melissa- her eyes locked on a stunning teal Ford truck parked on the lawn (the newest addition to Wolf Oak Acres venue). Thrilled was an understatement. Melissa’s jaw dropped and her eyes got wide, she was overwhelmed with joy to have this amazing antique car for part of their day! Wasting no time, she ran upstairs to see Jason, together they took the time to personally write everyone’s names on mason jars, as a gift for their guests. When they were finished with the rows and rows of mason jars, Melissa’s bridesmaids hurried her into the bridal suite, keeping her hidden from Jason until she took that walk down the aisle.
Melissa and her bridesmaids were hilarious, sharing silly stories while doing their makeup, they were having a great time together. While just the next room over, Jason and his groomsmen were watching sports and relaxing. Time was growing shorter and as guests filled the ceremony space, Melissa was still not ready, all the girls were getting nervous, but Melissa was calm. One of her bridesmaids remarked, “It wouldn’t be Missy’s wedding if she wasn’t late to it.”
You could hear the muffled voices of the guests, all seated and ready. Makeup and hair was now finished, one last step- the dress. The bridesmaids exited and slid the barn door shut. Melissa was helped into her dress- a stunning beaded lace gown with cap sleeves and flowing train. With a final look in the mirror she was ready to reveal her final look to her bridesmaids. When the door opened they all squealed, smiles stretched across all of their faces! Next was the hard part- getting Melissa out of the room without anyone seeing her. The tri-folding screen in the bridal suite was the perfect way to sneak away. What a sight to see as her bridesmaids carried the screen blocking out the view for Jason and the guests. Once outside, the girls put the screen down and got in line. Melissa’s father came around the corner to see her for the first time and it was a sweet moment, a face of pure happiness, with a hug and a kiss they went to the back of the line. The moment was almost here. Music started and away the bridesmaids walked. One by one they traveled down the aisle lined with lanterns till it was just Melissa. She locked eyes with Jason and followed him to the gorgeous fireplace, where he took her hands in his. They shared sweet handwritten vows, a knot tying ceremony, and never took their eyes off each other the entire time.
The portrait session was a dream. Mother nature was painting the sky beautifully for Melissa and Jason. Everywhere we turned there was another place to explore! From the amazing truck, to the pond that Melissa and Jason fished from, we had an amazing time discovering the venue before the reception.
The bridal party gathered upstairs and Melissa and Jason joined them before being greeted for introductions. As they were announced , Jason and Melissa took this time to do one last run through of their first dance- they had been getting lessons and were nervous and excited to show off their newly found skills. The new Mr. and Mrs. During were called and cheers erupted, once they began their dance, everyone lost it! Melissa and Jason did amazing, something we have never seen before, and they nailed their dance! Following the dances, were touching toasts from the maid of honor, sharing the story of how they met, and the best man (Melissa’s son) speaking on how he met Jason and what a great guy he is.
A delicious dinner was brought out and shortly after that the party started, everyone was on the dance floor rocking out! It was a fun group that really knew how to have a good time! The fun continued all night with awesome music and great people!
Thank you for letting us be a part of your day! Congratulations Melissa and Jason!
